Answer the questions that come before a booking
A guest needs to understand the location, room options, facilities, and the terms of the stay. Put practical details close to the relevant decision. Beautiful photographs still need useful captions and clear room information.
Review the questions your reception team answers repeatedly. Parking, arrival times, accessibility, breakfast, and transport may deserve prominent information if they matter to your guests. Use confirmed property details rather than generic destination copy.
Choose the booking route early
Decide whether the website will link to an existing booking engine, embed a provider, or support a custom reservation workflow. That choice affects design, cost, availability handling, and the handover. A date picker alone is not a working reservation system.
Ask the provider about the route from room selection to confirmation. Check what happens when a room is unavailable, a guest changes dates, or a payment fails. Confirm which system owns rates and availability.
Review the whole journey on a phone
Begin on a room page and complete the path to a booking confirmation in a suitable test environment. Look for repeated data entry, unexpected domain changes, unclear totals, and policies that appear too late. Keep the guest aware of what they are selecting.
If the first release uses an enquiry form, label it as a request rather than an instant reservation. Explain when the property will confirm availability using its actual operating arrangements.
Include the operational handover
Agree who updates room descriptions, photographs, rates, and policies. Document where enquiries arrive and who handles them. If several staff members share responsibility, define the handoff so a request does not get lost between shifts.
For a design example, explore our Northline Stays concept. It demonstrates date selection and an estimated room total with fictional data. A production booking project needs a confirmed inventory source, reservation rules, and the relevant provider integrations.
